so..heres the interview! tell me if you like it!
1. What is your name and what is the name of your project/band?
C: Cameron Walker, my band is called WeatherStar :-)
D: Dan Clap and I play Bass Guitar for Show Me the Skyline.
2. What are your musical influences?
C:Elvis Costello, The Beatles, Blink 182, but the list could go on and on.
D: I pretty much listen to everything, but definitely bands like Incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and anything really bass driven.
3. What was the first concert you attended?
C:Outpatient Zero at Toquet Hall in Westport, Connecticut.
D:I actually played a few concerts before I actually went to one. I saw Hey Monday, Stereo Skyline, This Providence, and The Friday Night Boys sometime in June/July of 2009.
4. What's in your CD player right now (Or what were you listening to on your iPod last)?
C:A Rocket To the Moon's new record "On Your Side"
D: The Academy Is, This Providence, Paramore, Incubus, Marcus Miller, anything and everything. Check out this band Anarbor if you've never heard of them!
5. Any funny band stories?
C:One time, Jesse (our drummer) backed into Matt's (our bassist) car...and today Jesse backed into my car.
D:Far too many, tour pranks, inside jokes, and everything in between. We have a lot of fun just messing around and playing the music we love. Specifically though, Larzz's run in with Mall Security on our Hot Topic Tour.
6. What would be the best tour line-up that you would want to see?
C:Blink 182
Sum41
Jimmy Eat World
D:For the scene I'd definitely say it should be something along the lines of All Time Low, Hey Monday, and Paramore
7. If you were not a musician, what career would you pursue?
C:Hmm.. good question, Everyone says I'm good at making different voices, so maybe voice overs. Haha I don't know.. good question..
D: Well, currently I am in College for the time being and am leaning towards a degree in Marketing and Business.
8. If you could design a t-shirt, what would it say?
C:I <3 Puppies
D:Be Stoked On Life
9. Who would you want to tour with?
C:Blink 182
Elvis Costello
The Beach Boys
D: All Time Low, WeatherStar, Hey Monday
10. Are you taken seriously as a band/project despite your young age?
C: I hope so! I think at the end of the day the music speaks for itself. There's tons of young musicians out there, I think music is such a universal thing... anyone can make music and be respected at any age.
D: I think it depends on who you ask, people who don't know me and hear of the band are enthralled in what we have going on, but kids I've known forever and my parents don't think much of it. It's just sort of one of those things we do.
11. How have you established a fan base?
C:The internet makes it so easy for bands to stay close with their fans. Sites like Myspace, Purevolume and Twitter have really contributed to our success so far.
D:The internet opens doors for social networking, which in my opinion is the most essential tool for a band to succeed. Otherwise we try really hard to keep in touch with fans, do as much as we can to answer emails, messages, and comments. After all, we are real people, not robots. Thank you to anyone who has listened to our music, it really does mean a lot. We play shows to hear you guys sing along, so please do <3
12. Favorite quote of all time?
C:"Where we're going.. we don't need roads" - Doc Brown.. from the movie Back To The Future
D:There are so many quotes throughout history, so choosing just one would be really difficult. I feel like people should take the idea of being "Stoked On Life" and really use it more often.
13. Favorite book?
C:Lord of The Rings
D:I'm not a big reader. The Harry Potter series sort of entertains me.
14. How did your family and friends react to the idea of your band/project?
C:My family and friends are really supportive of my projects, I'm really lucky.
D: The majority of my family has no clue what's going on, but my close family has at least a broad idea. They are pretty supportive, but of course want me to continue to get an education and have backup plans. Take that advice guys, you can never have enough of an education. My friends have been awesome throughout this whole process, if it wasn't for them I wouldn't be nearly as far as I am now.
15. What do you do to get motivated before a show?
C:I usually do some jumping jacks and listen to disco music.
D: Before shows we try to hang out in the crowd and just talk to and meet new people. It's awesome hearing what people have to say about our music or another band's tunes. Also, it's really fun to watch other bands perform and see what they do on stage.
16. What is the one song that you could dance to whenever you hear it?
C:"Rock your Body" - Justin Timberlake
D:”Chelsea, Chelsea” - Summerset or “Slam Crunk”-Holiday Parade.
17. Is there any band or musician that you hope to be like someday?
C:Hmm, there are a lot of musicians that I look up to, but I'm hoping to make my own path and just be myself :-)
D:Not necessarily, I sort of want to just pull ideas from past musicians and formulate my own style. Music is about expression. My feelings are always going to be different than another persons, and the same really goes for everyone. With that said, it is important to develop a sense of originality and truth to any music. I do wish I had the chops of Marcus Miller however.
18. Which non-profit organizations would you support?
D: To Write Love on Her Arms, hits close to home.
19. Do you have any pet peeves with each other? (Like during practices or shows?)
D: Haha, getting Larzz on task can be fun sometimes. He works extremely hard on the music but every once and a while we all go off on a tangent and get rather distracted.
20. What song represents you?
D:That is a hard one, I like to think I'm a multi-dimensional person, so picking a song to capture that is sort of impossible. I'm really feeling this song “Pages” by There For Tomorrow.
